Ahmedabad

        This district is well known as the Manchester of India and obviously famed for textile industry. The Ahmedabad city is the district headquarters and is situated in the central part of Gujarat state with great values of old architecture filled around, the city is spread over at an area of 8,707 sq.km.

        During the 15th century , Sultan Ahmed Shah found this wonderful land of prosperity in Gujarat by then it was previously called as Amdavad and Kamavati. This place enriched into business activities and stood famous for textile industry and chemical industry from its inception of human inheritance. The place is located on the banks of Sabarmati Rivers which divides the city into two as old Ahmedabad and New Ahmedabad. The places of interest are the Ahmed Shah’s mosque and tomb are the pilgrim sites here, mostly being an industrial area the city have fetched the name as Manchester of the east because of busy businesses take place. This city was the ancient capital of Gujarat is located 32km away from the present capital GandhiNagar, the buildings around here expresses the unique style of Indo-Saracenic architecture( a blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural style and finish) moreover Ahmedabad is famous for its handicrafts and embroidery works in silver, this ancient city is still a talk of history because of its strong walls that exist for centuries together to name a few for its fame from 18th century you have Gandhi Ashram, Jama Masjid of 15th century, Hathee singh Jain temple and its 52 shrines, kankariya Lake , Bhadra Fort and Teen Darwaza and Calico Museum etc; some more important sites are Sun temple which is situated 102 km to the north –west of the city at Modhera town and in Lothal you have an ancient dock which has the belongings of the Indus Valley Civilization which locates 85 km South- west of Ahmedabad. These are the awesome spots that really make us think of the past and our ancestor’s survivals that created history will be a mark.

Ambawadi

         This location is a town in the suburbs of Ahmedabad district located to the north – west of about 3km west of the Sabarmati. The places of Interest are Shreyas Folk Museum and educational museum.

Bareja

        This location is at the outskirts of the district wherein you have kankariya Lake, Bhadra Fort and Teen Darwaza and Calico Museum as tourist spots of visit. Nearby 50 km from Bareja you have Anand the neighbouring district which is famously known as the Milk capital of India.

Dhandhuka

        An ancient location of the district which ages back to 11th century dwellings, this spot is a major Jain center which follows Hemchandra, a great practitioner of Jain literature who was born to the Vanik family during the 11th century will be the historical facts here, the landscape here is salt contained (saline) with ridges of limestone and trap rocks around. The main visiting spots are Jalia, Sarangpur and Khambalia and Dholera which is an ancient port situated 30km from here.

Dholka

         This is another location that speaks of ancient living of mankind here, the buildings and monuments expresses the Indo Saracenic style of architecture which dates back to 15th century workmanship. The major attraction of this spot is ‘Vageshwari Temple ‘dedicated to Vageshwari Mataji and numerous monuments of Islamic structural blends that binds our minds to adore.

Jamalpur

        Jagannath Temple is very famous for its ancient appearance, the annual chariot – led procession gathers in a vast crowd of scared devotees to this spot once a year. Saryudasji Temple at Prem Darwaja area is the nearby attraction to this location.

Jetalpur

        It was here the famous Gujarati poet Akha Bhagat born. The other attractions are Shri Swaminarayan Temple, a Jain temple and Shiva shrines are the temples around here to worship and devote spirituality. For more tourist spots visiting Ahmedabab city will be a better option to tour around.

Lothal

         This location is said to be the ancient spots of the district, located 80km south-west of Ahmedabad contains reality and values related to the Indus valley civilization and Harappan  town plannings that dates back to 2nd millennium BC. But the town is said to be discovered during 1954. The excavations done here had revealed five phases of seemingly continuous occupation. The first four are the premature Harappans and the fifth; the later phase of the culture is still represented here with all its various forms. The dockyard unearthed here during excavations could probably be one of the most important ports of the Subcontinent. Lothal shared its fame for its natural sheltered harbour which attracted he Harappans to step in here and also for its landscape that replenished rich cotton and rice growing hinterland. Today, Lothal is a busy industrial estate commercializing international trade with great prosperity in importing pure copper and producing bronze belts, fish hooks, chisels, spreadheads and ornaments.

Naroda

        This location is another industrial township situated at the outskirts of Ahmedabad city, the tourist attractions are Sabarmati Ashram, Jama Masjid and Kankariya Lake.

Sabarmati

        This spot is famous to bear as a home to the legendaries of freedom fighters, the great legendary march of Dandi was initiated from here, and this location is perched at an altitude of 187ft above sea level and is famously known for the Gandhiji’s Sabarmati Ashram are the main attraction to the tourist.

Sanand

        Modasar Teerth, dedicated to Bhagavan Shantinath- the 16th Jain Tirthankar, is the nearby pilgrim center.

Sarkhej

        This spot has some major touist attractions around such as Sarkhej complex which exhibits the ancient medieval architecturein Gujarat. The tomb of Shaikh Ahmed Khattu built by Mohammed shah- the successor of Ahmed shah during the year 1446 is a great attraction of historic visit. The annual fair of Sarkhej at the mausoleum which is celebrated in memory of Shaikh Ahmed Khattu which is also known as Ganj Bakhas pulls in thousands of devotees from far and near.

Vataman

        Here you have a famous Jain temple dedicated to the Bhagwan Adinath, a serene spot of shrine to serenity; it is even known as vataman Chowkdi.
