Surat Surat is a well known green and fertile region in agriculture in the state of Gujarat. The area is spread over an area of 7,657 dq.km and mainly known as great importance of spice trade in India, even Europeans , the East Indian Company have established the first warehouse here in the year 1612. the major occupation to the people here is agriculture and fruit farming. Magdalla is an important port in Surat for to trade overseas. Zari work, cutting and polishing of diamonds are the added famous items of purchase here. The important places of visit are Bardoli, Dandi, Dumas, Hajira, Ukai, Utran and Vedchi, there are two Gandhiean ashrams, at Bardoli and Vedchhi. This town was previously known as ‘Suraj’ which means ‘city of Sun’ but aftermath of a Muhammadan ruler it changed as Surat, during the Mughals Monarchism , Surat became the prime gateway to Mecca pilgrimage. This city is situated on the Tapi River offers a vehement growth to industries and business related to textile, agriculture and handicrafts products. During 1612, the first warehouse built by the East Indian Company is still in existence. Wherein, exports are at ease to develop the growth of this city. The major and unique jari (yarn) gold based weave is done here. And agro products are the other major export activities happen here. The places of interest are Dutch Garden, Old fort, Sardar Patel Museum, Dandi Dumas and Hajira. Vausda National park and Swaraj Ashram at Bardoli are nearly at 34 km distances are the other known pilgrim centers. Bardoli A renowned history of ‘Bardoli Satyagrah’ ( a great farmer movement) during Independence have been performed here by Mahatama Gandhi under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhai Patel has happened here. Swaraj Ashram is the other major point of attraction. Hajira(Hazira) This is a giant city of industry in south Gujarat, which has the biggest industrial powerhouse in the country. The other attractions are Hajira beach, two wells which is rich in iron and sulphur. Olpad Dutch garden, old fort, Sardar Patel Museum, Dandi, Dumas, and Hajira are the tourist places of visit. Rander It was previously the main commercial center of the south Gujarat, before of Surat came into prominence during the 11th and 12th centuries. Thereon Arabs and Kafas have intruded to make it as a center for overseas trade. Later, due to Portuguese invasion, Rander dimmed its prosperity and charm in trade.
