VADODARA Vadodara is the district headquarters with an enriched area of 7,794sq.km, previously known as Baroda, this place means literally as the land of Banyan tree, this happened so, because of the kingship of Sayaji Rao Gaekwad 111 during 1875-1939, wherein, the ruler preserved this place as an educational, Industrial and Commercial Center. The main rivers that flourish this region are The Mahi, Narmada, Viswamitri, Dhadhar and Dev. This enables great agriculture and a large opportunity of industrial growth. Vadodara is known as the major center for paramedical and glass industry in the country and also a heavy water plant, a large oil-refinery and a fertilizer factory are located here. The important and interesting spots of tourist visit are, Dabhoi fort, which stands an example for Hindu military architecture, Chandod for its pilgrim center, Sanbheda is known for workmanship in lacquer and wood based handicrafts. This town of spiritual and traditional environment is located near the ancient towns of Darbhavati [Dabhoi] and Vadapadh. Chhayapuri was the early name of this town. CHHOTA UDAIPUR This town was formed by Baji Raval. During the year 1813 Rayasing, a follower of Baji Raval, have built a fort here, the place is famous for old historical palaces, and temples. Moreover the tourist can make chhota, the edge of Udaipur, as their base for visiting Gujarat tribals. DABHOI The real name is Darbhavati. The early days was ruled by the Muslims during 13th centuries. Later, Hindu rulers prevailed, wherein, Dabhoi Fort evoked to speaks facts of Hindu reign here. The four gates of the fort are carved to the core of workmanship challenge, and named as Hira Bhagol in the east, Vadodara in the west, Champaner Gate in the north and Nandod Gate in the south. JAANBUGHODA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY With an area of 130.38 sq.km, it sanctuary was established in the year 1990. You have a large number of Mahuda trees in this sanctuary, which supplies major food to the wild life & tribals here. The farmers found here are Sloth bear, leopard, hyena, wolf and barking deer. Accomadations are available at the forest rest house in Kada near the dam. The best season is winter to visit the sanctuary. JETPUR PAVI Tribal regions’ and dense forest. KARNALI This is another temple city of the state located with nature and ghats beauty around. Karnali, basically is a twin town of Chandod lies on the opposite bank of Orsary River. Temples here are mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva, the footprint of Lord Dattatreya is a great sanctify to this town. During Chaitra month, this town celebrates a big fair that pulls in people from around the state. [March-April]. NARESHWAR Saint Ranj Avadhoot havr established an ashram here with his vast collection of books is a highlight of Nareshwar. This is situated on the banks of the River Narmada. SANKHEDA Indians basically are great workers in a known fact and Sankheda is a place of proof for it. The lacquer printed colourful wooden furniture is a unique identity of antique Indian art and traditional talents. The furniture is in golden, orange and brown colours with ornate design in silver are enriching the value of human talents & skills. The people mostly are carpenters here. SAVLI Bhimnath Mahadev temple amidst a beautiful garden is the prime spot of attraction. Its remarkable entrance of morden architectural built adds beauty. The idol of Lord Krishna stands on a lotus enshrines sanctify here. It also houses a seat of Shri Harirayji, the fourth descendent from Vallabhachrya.
